Shed the Winter Layers with our April Apparel Round Up

Fingers crossed that spring weather is here to stay and that maybe we can pack away the snow gear.

Whether you’re hitting the trails, spending more time outside, or just ready to swap out the heavy winter stuff, we’ve rounded up some fun pieces of gear for this season.

If there’s a brand you think we need to try, drop us a comment!! Or have you tried one of these, let us know we’re always looking for more feedback on what’s working and what’s not.

PYNRS

I’ve been a long-time fan/wearer of PYNRS. It’s been a fun ride, watching the brand grow from inception in 2020 to its latest capsule. I still own and wear pieces from the first collection and could not wait to get my hands on the newest line!

The most notable attribute of  PYNRS is the material quality. Every piece I currently own is breathable, soft, and holds up well in the washer (and dryer ).

I tested size small in every piece, and they fit as I would expect.

W’s Torrey Longline Bra

The bra is a racerback, and although not padded (which may be an issue for some), it’s fully lined for coverage and has a sturdy adjustable chest band for cup support. Thanks to the closure in the back, it was easier to take off than other sports bras. It held up well during my test run, and I appreciated the front tank cut to avoid chafing.PYRNS sports bra

  • Sizes: XS-XXL
  • Colors: 3
  • 2 drop in pockets
  • Hook and eye closure
  • Available from Pynrs.com for $78

W’s Dakota 4″ Short

Initially, I was afraid they were too small. I’m somewhere between a small and medium. They were very snug going up my legs and over my hips, but surprisingly after a hop (or two) lol, they fit! Things I loved: ties at the waist, pockets in the back for keys or a gel, pockets on both legs that run the entire length of the shorts.PYRNS Shorts

I took these on a 3 mile run and the shorts never rode up at the thigh or waist, the material is a bit soft so you may need a thinner undergarment if you don’t want lines to show.

  • Size: XS-XXL
  • Color: 3
  • 5 Pockets: 2 drop in, 1 zippered back pocket, gel pockets
  • High-waist fit
  • Available from Pynrs.com for $108

Overall, I really like how this brand has and continues to evolve. The pieces are bold, runner-focused, and a fan favorite in run crews across the globe.

The Limitless Midi dress from Title Nine has everything you could wish for: a built-in bra, multiple pockets (yes, there are three!), and versatility. I’ve talked a ton about Title Nine dresses for athletic build’s over the years and this one is no exception. I love that I can feel cute, but move freely and well sweat without fear during a 90 degree walk around.

TYR Pace Running Cap

A good running hat is a year-round necessity. A good hat helps keep the sun out of your eyes and keeps the sweat from flooding into your eyes on those hot and sunny days, and helps keep the rain out of your eyes when you go out and brave the elements.TYR Pace running capMade from a lightweight moisture-wicking blend of polyester and poly-mesh, the Tyr Pace Running Cap fits the bill and passed the tests during a couple of rainy morning outings and a couple of subsequent hot afternoon runs.

  • Size: one size fits most
  • Color: 3
  • Available from Tyr.com for $35 (currently on sale for $10)

Municipal Clothing

Momentum Half Zip Anorak

I was excited to try this one out – it’s late winter, and where I am in Los Angeles, that means cool mornings and warm afternoons. The solution? Light layers, of course.

The Momentum Half Zip Anorak is a cool, lightweight half zip with tech performance fabric that will keep you warm during light rain or wind, and not overheat when the sun starts to shine.

Some of my favorite details were the reflective accents, which keep you safe and visible when the sun goes down, and the adjustable drawstrings at the hem, which make the fit customizable. This has a cool, classic oversized fit, making it ideal for layering up when the weather changes unpredictably. municipal half zip

This piece is a staple for an early-morning hike, heading to the gym, or throwing on after a trail race when the wind is blowing and you need to warm up. Overall, I love this piece, and I think it’s a great addition for an athlete on the go.

Women’s Daily Pant

Next up, I tried the Women’s Daily Pant in the light blue “Horizon” colorway. I’m a work-from-home gal, and most of my wardrobe these days consists of what I call… house pants. That’s not a thing, but maybe it will be soon.

I’m always looking for comfortable, flexible clothes that are one step above sweatpants (you know, cause I’m a professional). So, when I received the women’s daily pants, I was thrilled.

These are the perfect mix of lightweight and stretchable, making them perfect for all-day wear. My favorite detail is the drawstring at the ankles, which lets a short girl like me cinch these up a little. I’ve been living in these since they arrived, and I think you will too. These fit true to size.

R4™ Body Roller

There are countless foam rollers on the market. My go-to has been a standard-density foam roller that’s 36” by 6” and costs just over $60. Nothing special, but it gets the job done. When I saw the R4™ Body Roller, it was like nothing I’d tried before.

At just 18” by 6”, it’s half the length of what I’m used to rolling on. I wasn’t sure I’d be able to balance my body on it, but I ended up having no trouble. The R4™ weighs 2.6 lbs and is made of a proprietary high-density EVA foam, and its core is made from engineered ABS (meaning it’s durable, yet lightweight).

r4 roll recovery

The main differences between the R4™ Body Roller and the standard foam roller I’ve been using are the material’s texture and the unique spine-and-neck alignment center groove. Honestly, I had no idea I could use a foam roller on my back or spine, so this was eye-opening for me.

When I first tested it out, I didn’t try anything crazy. Then I laid down and used the spine-and-neck center groove. I loved it. I carry a lot of tension in my neck and shoulders, and this has been a game-changer for me in loosening those areas after workouts or when I just need a good stretch.

I definitely recommend the R4™ Body Roller to anyone who wants to either get started in rolling or wants a step above the usual foam roller. The added spine and neck groove give you more ways to expand your recovery sessions without breaking the bank.

  • Color: 3
  • Spine and neck alignment center groove.
  • Unique diamond pattern for better grip
  • Available from Rollrecovery.com for $65
